The public MCP server is disabled until its launch checks are complete. Directory listings are coming soon. See the MCP page for availability. The instructions below describe the supported flow once it is enabled.

Ask about your drive

Add Windshield Weather from your assistant’s approved directory listing. In other MCP clients, use https://mcp.windshieldweather.com/mcp after launch. Public forecasts need no Windshield Weather account.

Give named cities or places, your destination and departure. For example: “Check Denver to Moab tomorrow at 8 AM.” Times are interpreted in the origin’s time zone, up to ten days ahead. The current forecast store may cover a shorter window. If you omit the origin, the assistant may supply a coarse city or region; otherwise it asks. When a place is ambiguous, the assistant asks which one you mean. Use named places rather than street addresses or coordinates.

The answer shows each stretch at your arrival time there, the worst stretch, measurements, daylight and time zones. Official alerts are labelled with their issuing service, separately from forecast severity. Traffic is a Mapbox report for departures within an hour. Always check road-authority notices for closures.

For a highway, name the road and region, such as “I-80 across Wyoming.” The answer uses an hourly snapshot for now, +3, +6, +12 and +24 hours. These are weather forecasts; road-condition services publish the road’s status.

Open the drive

Choose Open in Windshield Weather. The link shows the named endpoints and departure. Continue in the browser, signing in if needed, or open the app. The app looks up the places again and starts a fresh forecast. A departure that has passed becomes Now.

On a desktop, scan the QR code to continue on your phone. On Android, an install from the link can carry the drive through Google Play’s install referrer. On iPhone, install the app and tap the original link again. Complete sign-in and first-run screens before the drive opens. If the link is invalid, choose Plan a drive and enter the places again.

Privacy and limits

The tools read public weather; they do not read or change your account or saved drives. Tool inputs, geocodes and conversation or user identifiers are not retained in our telemetry. Aggregate usage and outcomes are counted. The encrypted link contains named endpoints, departure and units, without coordinates; anyone holding it can open that drive. Normal account analytics preferences apply when you continue in the app.

Use the assistant before departure to plan. Forecasts may change or be unavailable. Follow official alerts, road authorities and the conditions you see.
