App updates
Sometimes the app asks you to update. A suggested update can wait a week; a required one has to happen before the app will fetch forecasts again.

Suggested updates
When a newer version is available, the app may suggest it. You can carry on without updating.
A sheet, UPDATE AVAILABLE: “A newer Windshield Weather is ready.” Update opens the App Store page for the app, inside the app. Not now — or closing the sheet — waits a week, or until the next version.
The same sheet as on iPhone. Update opens the app’s page in the App Store.
A dialog: “A clearer view is ready.” Update downloads the new version through Google Play while you keep using the app. When it is ready, “Update ready. Restart when you’re ready.” offers Restart; the app never restarts on its own. Not now waits a week, or until the next version.
The web planner is always the latest version; reload the page to get it.
Required updates
If your version can no longer fetch forecasts, the app shows a full screen, UPDATE REQUIRED, in front of everything else, until you update. Your drives and settings are kept.
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: “Update to keep planning drives.” — Update on the App Store.
- Android: “A newer version is needed.” — Update with Google Play, which updates the app there and then.
The app says an update is required walks through it.
During the beta
Every beta build is version 1.0, and no update prompts are showing at the moment. New beta builds arrive through TestFlight and Google Play’s testing programme, which update them like any other app. Keep automatic updates on, or check TestFlight and Google Play now and then.
Car screens and cars with Google built in never show update prompts.
