Location is off
Planning still works — 01 STARTING FROM becomes a search field. Turn location on when you want the start filled in for you.

Plan without it
Location is optional. Type your starting place in 01 STARTING FROM the way you type the destination; the forecast, the timeline, the map and the briefing work the same. Plan without your location has more.
Turn it on in the app
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: tap Use my location, the crosshair in the 01 STARTING FROM row, and allow location when asked.
- Android: tap Use my location beside the starting place, in search, or on the map, and allow it when asked.
- Web: choose USE MY LOCATION and allow it when the browser asks.
Turn it on in your device settings
If you said no before, the app cannot ask again; allow it in your device’s settings instead.
The button reads Open location settings — tap it, or open the Settings app › Windshield Weather › Location, and choose While Using the App.
System Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services, then turn on Windshield Weather.
Tap Open Android settings from the location control, then allow location for Windshield Weather in its permissions. Approximate location is enough. Return to the app and try again.
In your browser’s site settings for windshieldweather.com, allow location, then reload the page.
“Location unavailable”
Location is on but no position came back in time — indoors, underground or with location services off for the whole device. Try again in the open, or type the starting place. On the web the message reads “Location is unavailable. Search for your starting point instead.”
