The map or radar is blank
The map is usually still loading, or the connection dropped. The timeline and the briefing still work while it catches up.

Wait, then reload
The map draws in pieces as they arrive. On a slow connection it can stay dark or grey for a while; give it a moment, then close the drive and open it again. The timeline and the briefing do not depend on the map, so you can read the forecast while it loads.
Check your connection
The map needs a connection to fetch its pictures. With no signal, the parts already loaded stay and the rest stays blank. Try again with a better signal, or read the timeline in the meantime.
Try another map style
If the map looks empty in one style, try another: in Map on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, or in Layers on the web, between Standard, the app’s own style and Satellite. The route and its markers are drawn over any of them.
If the radar is missing
Radar is off until you turn it on, in Weather on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android or Layers on the web. If it is on, there may simply be no rain or snow in view: radar only shows precipitation that has been observed.
The radar service could not be reached. The rest of the map works; try again later.
The newest radar pictures are late. What shows is still the last hour, just not up to the minute.
Beta builds from 26 September 2026 and earlier cannot show the current radar. Update the app from TestFlight or Google Play.
Map layers and radar explains what the radar shows and where it comes from.
