Stops on Android
On Android phones and tablets, choose Add a destination after the end of the drive. You can add up to five places, visited in the order you add them. Open a destination to choose an arrival time on its local clock and a stay: Auto, one hour, two hours, Night or a custom duration from 15 minutes to 12 hours.
04 STOPS offers Nonstop, Suggested and Custom. Suggested is the default for a new drive, including one planned from Automotive. Older drives without a stop plan remain nonstop. Custom asks about breaks, each day, any stops at a set time, each destination and a review. Use these stops applies the draft; closing discards it. Back closes a set-time editor first, then steps backward through Custom, then closes a destination and the Stops sheet.
Android uses an hour grid for every drive, including nonstop drives. Long blocks fold; open the fold to see the whole stop. Choose Edit to tap the road and add a stop, drag a stop to move it, or drag its bottom edge to change its length. A folded stop must be open before stretching. Destinations move through the plan, rather than by dragging. Add a stop supplies hour and minute fields; TalkBack offers stop actions. On a hardware keyboard, arrows move a stop by five minutes, Shift changes the step to thirty, Alt changes its length, Delete removes a placed stop and Enter opens its details. Undo is available in the snackbar and edit toolbar. Done leaves editing. Beside Edit, the summary of the drive’s stops opens Stops.
The stop sheet gives its place, reason, arrival, leaving time and stay. Show on map selects its square map pin; All stops opens the plan controls. For a destination, Change in Stops edits its arrival or stay. Other stops offer Compare without this stop, which requests another forecast only when pressed. Trip details separates Driving, Stopped and Arrive; low-light driving excludes time parked. Copying a drive to another time moves stops placed on the timeline by the same amount, and editing a saved drive’s stops saves it as a new drive in its place. Android Auto and Automotive show read-only stop rows, without stop pins or editing.
Stop details also offer previous and next stop buttons and a timeline strip marking the selected stop. At either end, the unavailable direction is disabled.
Stops on the web
Choose the main destination in 02 GOING TO first. ADD A DESTINATION and the 04 STOPS controls become available after you choose it.
In the signed-in web planner, add up to five destinations between the start and end. Each can have an arrival time — Auto or a set local time — and a stay: Auto, a length, or the night. The route visits them in the order you add them.
Choose Nonstop, Suggested, or Custom under 04 STOPS. New drives start with Suggested; drives saved before stops still run nonstop. Suggested plans breaks, nights and, when the forecast allows it, waits to miss bad weather. Custom asks about breaks, driving each day, set times and each destination, then lets you review the plan before using it.
For a destination, choose Change in Stops in its stop sheet to edit its arrival or stay, or remove it there.
Every stop changes when you reach the road after it. The forecast includes that time. An arrival time can move a picked departure earlier; leaving now or in an hour can show a destination as late instead.
A drive’s stops are saved with it, and follow your account.
Days on the timeline
On the web, each local day has an hour grid. Weather sections and stops are as tall as the time they take. Anything over three hours folds to its beginning and end; choose SHOW to open it. A night crossing midnight continues on the next day.
Choose EDIT to add a stop, move one or change its length. Add a stop offers the same choices without clicking the grid. Arrow keys move a focused stop by five minutes; Shift makes it thirty; Alt changes its length. Destinations move through the plan form. Every edit can be undone, including after the undo bar disappears. The road shows Updating… until its new forecast arrives.
Driving, stopped and arrival
Trip details separates driving time from stopped time and gives arrival on the destination’s clock. Low-light driving counts driving in night, dawn and dusk; it excludes time parked. The map shows stops as square pins. Open one for its times, source and reason. A comparison without a stop is requested only when you choose it.
How far ahead
A drive ending more than about ten days ahead is refused. Plan it closer to the day or use shorter stops. The later a section, the more its forecast can change before you get there.
The web uses this timeline for every drive. Native apps can have different stops availability; a drive with no stop plan is forecast nonstop. The timeline explains the display, and Local and elapsed time explains clocks.
