Why it happens
Now and then a change on our side means an older version of the app can no longer fetch forecasts correctly. When that happens, that version shows UPDATE REQUIRED in front of everything else until it is updated. Nothing is lost: your drives and settings stay on the device.
Update on iPhone, iPad and Mac
Choose Update on the App Store. The app’s App Store page opens inside the app; choose Update there. If the page cannot load, the App Store app opens instead.
Update on Android
Choose Update with Google Play. Google Play updates the app there and then, and it reopens when it is done. If that cannot start, the app’s page on Google Play opens instead.
During the beta
Beta builds update through TestFlight and Google Play’s testing programme. If the store page does not offer an update, open TestFlight — or the Windshield Weather page on Google Play — and install the latest build from there.
A suggestion, not a requirement
If the message offers Not now, the update is only suggested: the app works as before, and asks again in a week or when the next version arrives. App updates explains the difference.
