What you can ask →

Questions about weather in ChatGPT and Claude

What is the Windshield Weather MCP server?

A free, read-only tool for forecasting weather along a drive, called by assistants through the Model Context Protocol.

How do I use it in ChatGPT or Claude?

Once its listing is approved, add Windshield Weather from the host’s directory and ask where you are starting, where you are going and when you leave. Other MCP clients can use the server URL after launch.

Can it show highway weather?

Yes. Ask about a named highway and region for an hourly snapshot of each stretch now, +3, +6, +12 and +24 hours. Road-condition links belong to the regional services; these forecasts do not certify road closures.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Public forecasts need no account. Continuing in the app or browser uses your Windshield Weather account.

Does it know where I am?

Only a coarse city or region supplied by the host can fill in a missing origin. You can always name the origin yourself.

Can I save drives from the conversation?

This version checks weather and opens a drive in the app. It does not read or change saved drives or accounts.

Can I rely on it while driving?

Use it to plan before departure. Forecasts change; follow official warnings, road authorities and conditions on the road.
