Delete your account

Delete your account from the app’s settings or the website. It takes effect immediately, signs out every device, and cannot be undone.

Before you delete

Deleting your account is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and nothing to restore afterwards. If you only want to remove saved plans, delete individual drives instead — Your drives shows how.

In the app or on the website

  1. Sign in at windshieldweather.com

Then open windshieldweather.com/account and choose the Delete account row, or go straight to windshieldweather.com/delete-account.

  2. Type DELETE, then choose DELETE MY ACCOUNT

The page confirms: “Your account is gone.” This browser’s copy of your drives and settings is removed too.

The link the app opens works once, for one minute. If the page offers SIGN IN TO DELETE MY ACCOUNT instead, it has expired: go back to the app and choose Delete account again.

What happens

  • Every device is signed out at once, and every app and browser loses access. Your other devices notice the next time they are opened or refreshed.
  • Your sign-in methods are removed, and your email and name are erased from the account.
  • Your drives and settings are deleted from our servers.
  • Your analytics profile is deleted. Our servers ask our analytics service to delete what it holds for your account — the profile with your email address, its events and its session replays. What remains is a count that an account was deleted, with how old it was and whether Analytics was on, with nothing that identifies it.
  • The device you delete from erases its copy at once.
  • Your other devices erase theirs when they next connect. A device that stays offline keeps its copy until then.
  • No confirmation email is sent.

The same email address can be used for a new account afterwards; it starts empty.

What is kept

A few records are kept after deletion, without your email or name attached: a record that an account existed, and its membership. Transactional emails we sent you are kept in our email log, and messages you sent to support stay in the support inbox. The Privacy Policy describes these, and [email protected] answers questions about them.
